Highlight on the speakers
Scott Lylander is a Professional Technologist working at TC Energy since 2013 as a vibration specialist with ISO 18436 Category 4 vibration certification. As part of the Technical Centre’s Facility Integrity team, Scott works across TC Energy to strengthen process safety through a better understanding of vibration and design for vibration. An ongoing goal is to increase vibration awareness throughout industry so more people recognize vibration issues and understand how to properly address them.
Barry Ruggiero is a principal turbomachinery engineer in TC Energy’s Canada Gas Operations Facility Integrity & Reliability Engineering department. Barry has over 26 years of aeroderivative gas turbine experience between his current role and working for Rolls Royce in Montreal QC. Barry brings a vast wealth of knowledge in centrifugal equipment and driver operations, maintenance, troubleshooting and reliability. Barry has a Master of Engineering (Aerospace) degree and a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) from Concordia University in Montreal and is registered as a P. Eng. in AB, BC and Quebec.
Dr. Kamal Botros is a Research Fellow of Fluid Dynamics with NOVA Chemicals. He has a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Calgary and is a registered P.Eng. in AB. Dr. Kamal Botros moved to Canada from Egypt in 1975. He is a mechanical engineer with over 40 years of experience working on various fluid flow problems including equipment dynamics related to oil and gas processing. Dr. Botros is renowned for building a world-class shock tube facility for TransCanada with international cooperation. Dr. Botros’ distinguished career includes six other inventions related to supersonic ejectors, sound suppression, polyethylene reactors and greenhouse gas emissions reduction. He also has over 200 journal publications, 800 technical reports and several textbooks and patents to his name. He received the prestigious Frank Spragins Technical Award from the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) in 2016. Dr. Botros’ legacy is enriched by his dedication to mentoring and teaching young and upcoming engineers and students in the industry. His community development contributions include leading the Coptic Church building project in Balzac, Alberta.
